Parker County, Texas 16-year-old charged after police say the teen confessed to using AI to make nude deepfakes of children posted on TikTok

Police in Parker County, Texas say a 16-year-old confessed to taking photographs of a younger juvenile and using AI to alter them so the subject appeared nude. The teen posted AI-made nude images of younger children on TikTok. Evidence from the teen's devices and TikTok account showed the teen obtained photos of at least three other juvenile victims and turned them into deepfakes before uploading them. The investigation began in July when TikTok notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The teen faces charges including second-degree felony possession of child pornography and state jail felony voyeurism of a child victim.

What the AI did

A 16-year-old used AI to alter photographs of younger children so they appeared nude, police say. The victims were one younger juvenile and at least three others, and the teen uploaded the deepfakes to TikTok. It has not been reported which AI tool was used.
