UP murder accused allegedly used AI-generated funeral pyre image to fake his death and obtain a death certificate
Police in Mau, Uttar Pradesh, allege that a man accused in a 2016 murder case staged a goat's funeral in Ghazipur and used an AI-generated image of a body on a funeral pyre to fake his own death. He allegedly obtained documents, including a death certificate from the Mau Municipal Council, and submitted them to a court. Police said he did this to escape legal proceedings and to avoid repaying money he had collected from people for stock market investment. Police arrested him and registered a case for allegedly obtaining forged documents to falsely establish his death. He has been charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
What the AI did
