AI-generated Instagram 'comedians' copied real stand-up comics' jokes to steer fans to OnlyFans and Fanvue

AI-generated women posing as stand-up comedians on Instagram, including accounts named Tiffany Sloane and Aylen Skye, reportedly performed jokes copied from real comedians. The accounts gathered hundreds of thousands of followers and pointed fans to adult subscription sites such as OnlyFans and Fanvue. Wired reported identifying eight comedians whose material was copied. One comedian said Instagram rejected her impersonation complaint. People who reported Sloane's video were told it did not breach Instagram's community guidelines. Sloane's account deleted the disputed video after the comedian whose joke it copied called it out. Instagram head Adam Mosseri acknowledged the problem but said banning AI content was not practical.

What the AI did

Someone used AI to create fake women presented as stand-up comedians on Instagram, including accounts named Tiffany Sloane and Aylen Skye, and these accounts reportedly performed jokes copied from real comedians. It has not been reported which AI tool was used or who ran the accounts.

What this means for you

Could this affect you?

Yes

If you create original content or run a platform. Real comedians had their material copied by AI-generated personas that used it to steer fans toward adult subscription sites. Any creator or platform whose impersonation and copyright rules may not cover AI personas could be exposed the same way.

What to check

  • Monitor for AI accounts copying your content.
  • Keep side-by-side evidence of any copied material.
  • Review whether your platform's impersonation policy covers AI personas that reproduce others' work.
  • Review whether your platform's intellectual property policy covers AI personas that reproduce others' work.
